Welcome to Inn by the Sea

Dear Friends of Inn by the Sea,

Maine is famous in summer for its beautiful beaches, coastal light houses and fresh Gulf of Maine seafood- all of which is still available all winter long. Add some sparkling snow, crisp sunny days and cozy nights by the fire and you’ll discover even more reasons to love the state. Snow shoeing through the park trails with your pup, birding around Great Pond or taking a calming walk on the beach followed by a ‘hot cocoa warm up’ at the Inn, all make winter a terrific time to visit. After connecting with nature, shopping Portland’s unique boutiques or simply relaxing with a good book, pamper yourself in SPA or enjoy captivating cuisine in ocean view Sea Glass. Winter on the coast unveils a magical perspective you don’t want to miss!

We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Brown as Inn by the Sea’s Executive Chef.  Brown, who served at the Inn as Executive Sous Chef for two years, has stepped up to lead a well-seasoned and familiar culinary team as he deepens our longstanding commitment to local producers. With a lifelong passion for food, the Chef brings with him over 20 years of culinary experience in restaurants in Portland, upstate New York, and Arkansas. The Chef’s approachable seasonal menus, with a concept of “food for all” will bring people together around the table.

Over the winter months we hope you will join us for handcrafted cocktails in the lounge or al fresco at our cozy fire tables on the seaside deck. Please watch for upcoming information on Chef Brown’s featured wine dinners, and our February Ice Bar paired with our fifth annual Sea Food Celebration.

I am very proud to share news of some of the accolades and awards our resort and dedicated employees continue to receive. After twenty years of sustainable hotel operations, the Inn is thrilled to be the only US hotel in the east to join https://staybeyondgreen.com,  a curated group of unique and ‘the most sustainable hotels on the planet.’  We were also honored to receive the Preferred Hotels Best Practices and Achievement Award within the L.V.X. Collection. With results taken from guest feedback, this award is a direct reflection of our hospitality team’s service execution in creating authentic Maine experiences. The Inn was also selected for Conde Nast Traveler Top 22 Resorts in the Northeast 2022, USA Today’s 10Best Eco-Friendly Resorts, Travel + Leisure’s coveted 2022 T+L 500 list of the World’s Top 500 Hotels. We are grateful to our wonderful guests for their support of our staff by casting votes for the Inn.  And finally, Sea Glass restaurant’s deep wine cellar of over 2500 bottles and 350 labels to pair with Chef Brown’s fresh, seasonal menus, has again achieved Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence.

On behalf of the entire staff, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to welcoming you back to the Inn this winter.

Warm wishes,

Michael Briggs
