VIP's (Very Important Pets, and foster dogs) Welcome at Inn by the Sea

4/1/2022

Dogs Days at Inn by the Sea include amenities and over the top pampering for both traveling pets and their human companions. One of the first luxury hotels to accept pets, Inn by the Sea has welcomed man’s best friend for over 25 years with complimentary stays, water bowls, beach towels, cozy L.L Bean dog blankets, and handmade treats at turn down. Now the Inn has opened it's doors to foster dogs, offering a temporary home to rescues from Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland until adopted.

Gourmet dog menus for in room or lounge dining, dog walking and doggie day care are all available for doggie divas. Dogs are welcome to join their humans for meals al fresco on the seaside deck, around the Adirondack chairs in warm weather for lite bites and Chef’s lawn menu, or menu service in the fireplace lounge all year long.

Walk or play with our foster dog! The Inn fosters shelter dogs from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland on site. We offer the dogs a temporary home and walk, play, love and care for them until adopted. Guests enjoy interacting with the rescues and some- happily – fall in love and adopt! To date, 158 dogs have been adopted from the Inn, in collaboration with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, saving lives.

Pool Pawty! Fetching fall days include the pool going to the dogs- literally. In mid-October, just before cleaned and closed for the season, the pool closes to people and opens for pets only, for a week. Our VIP’s are then welcome to enjoy the beach, a sumptuous menu item from the gourmet pet menu, and a dip in the pool! Come join the annual Pawty!

Crescent Beach is closed to dogs during the Piper Plover nesting season in summer by State law, but other local beaches have pet hours. Guest services will be happy to provide a list of local and nearby beaches. There are many dog walking options- the beautiful sandy road parallel to the beach is always open for dogs, and Great Pond trail, around a 125 acre fresh water pond, is a wonderful nature walk for the whole family. Nearby Fort Williams Park welcomes dogs, and Robinson Woods is a great place for everyone, including the family pet, to enjoy tree bathing on the wooded nature trails.
