Foliage, Fireside & Flannel- Maine in the Fall.
Coastal Maine is well known as a summer destination for sandy beaches, picturesque seaside towns, lobster rolls and lighthouses. But locals will tell you their favorite season to enjoy all of the above and more, is fall. Crowds thin out after the start of school, days are warm and evenings crisp as the coast transforms into bright hues of red and gold. And with lower hotel rates available, this is the refreshing, peaceful getaway you’ve been dreaming of!
Quiet Season, Cozy Vibes
Autumn brings a slower pace. There’s time to enjoy long walks on the beach or cozy up by a fireplace with a book or a glass of wine. Start the day with yoga on the Inn’s seaside lawn, then follow up with a dip in the heated pool., open until October 12th. Cool evenings make for perfect sweater weather as you relax by the campfire or enjoy a cocktail at our fire tables.
Fall into Rejuvenation in SPA
As the seasons shift, it's time to reset, refresh, and restore. Let go of summer’s sun-soaked skin and embrace the nourishing rituals of fall. Our autumn spa treatments are designed to deeply hydrate, gently exfoliate, and bring balance back to body and mind. Replenish with a warm stone massage or revive your glow with a seasonal facial. Unwind and renew in SPA for the new season with new energy.
A Taste of the Season
One of the best reasons to visit coastal Maine in autumn is the bounty of our Cape Elizabeth farms. Farm stands at Jordan's and Alewives Brook Farm nearby are bursting with fresh produce and locally made jams and treats. Guest services has a list of Maine apple farms where you can pick your own fruit to take home. Chef Stein’s autumn menu in Sea Glass features seasonal flavors and warming fall chowders, including a longtime guest favorite- our New England clam chowder. Pair that with our in house Brown Bread Parker House Rolls with blueberry butter for a warming meal. Outdoor dining is still in season, you can enjoy a table with Atlantic views outside, or cozy fire tables for small plates with handcrafted cocktails or mocktails as we transition to cooler evenings.
Boutique shopping, Portland Museum of Art, Foodie Tours
A fall visit to nearby Portland, just minutes from the Inn, is the perfect time to explore the port city’s vibrant charm. Start your day at the renowned Portland Museum of Art, where world-class exhibits meet stunning architecture. This year the museum has an exhibition of Winslow Homer paintings and etchings through October 18th. Homer lived nearby and the museum offers reserved tours of his seaside home. (We have complimentary museum entry for Inn guests) Take a Foodie Walking Tour with Maine Day Ventures through the historic Old Port—sample local favorites from award-winning eateries while soaking in cobblestone streets, city history and salty sea air. Prefer to wander on your own? Discover boutique shops, cozy bookstores, and artisan finds tucked into every corner of the city. On the way to Portland check out Fort Williams and the historic Portland Headlight commissioned by George Washington- just minutes from the Inn and open for Maine’s Open Lighthouse Day on September 14.
Annual Dog Pool Pawty
